Michael Weston obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Melbourne University in 1978 and commenced practice in 1979. He is one of the founding partners of Perry Weston Lawyers, which commenced in 1987. Prior to that he practiced as a sole practitioner in Blackburn South.
Michael has been an Accredited Family Law Specialist with the Law Institute of Victoria for over 25 years, and has been a member of the Australian Institute of Arbitartors and Mediators since 1995 and has acted as an Independent Children’s Lawyer in numerous matters over the past 10 years. Michael is a trained Collaborative Lawyer registered with the Law Institute of Victoria.
He has practiced extensively in all areas of family law, including complex parenting and financial matters, Hague Convention matters, de facto property matters, as well as having experience in the appellate jurisdictions of the Family Court and the High Court of Australia. Michael appears frequently before the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court.
Michael is highly experienced in all aspects of alternative dispute resolution including Collaborative Law, mediation, arbitration, and informal round table conferences.
Michael has also practiced extensively in the areas of liquor licencing, sale and purchase of hotels and motels, and sale and purchase of business.
Michael is a member of the Family Law Sections of both the Law Institute of Victoria and the Law Council of Australia.
